For those who were young in the ’80’s, film director John Hughes was their Preston Sturgis. His films carried messages that all could relate to easily. Mr Hughes directed such classic motion pictures as The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Planes Trains and Automobiles and Sixteen Candles. Sadly, John Hughes has passed at the young age of 59.
This column is dedicated to my good friend Daniel Wagner, who also passed away yesterday, the same day as John Hughes.
Ferris Bueller said it best, “Life moves pretty fast. You don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
The Public Broadcasting System has launched a new video portal, PBS Video. The site provides a single source for full episodes and clips from award winning television shows such as Nova, Antiques Roadshow, Frontline, Julia Child, Masterpiece Theater, Great Performances, The Newshour and more.
The new site sports a slick, iPod-style presentation, making it easy to browse by program or by topic. And of course, just like Public TV, there are no commercials or advertising, just great quality TV programming.
PBS Video Watch award-winning national programming and locally produced shows. Catch up on the episodes you may have missed and watch your favorite, full-length shows free and on-demand.
The blip TV site is designed to distribute and host Internet TV shows created by people without multimillion dollar budgets. In addition, the site shares the advertising revenues with show producers 50/50. There are hundreds of show titles, including AnimaNations, Mahalo Video Games, Weird America, Wildcast, the iPhone App Review, National Lampoon, and many more.
